Doing It For Real
Now we have shown you that it is not only possible, but also straight forward to make an almost risk free profit using bookmakers and betting exchanges. But before you start to build your betting bank there is a little more you must know.

In our example Ian The Investor was able to back and lay at exactly the same odds. However, the betting exchanges take great pride in telling us that you can get odds 20% better (longer) on the betting exchanges.

Does this mean our technique doesn't work? Certainly not. While the betting exchanges might say you can get odds 20% better with them, that doesn't mean every selection will always have odds 20% longer on the exchanges. Test this for yourself, pick a couple of races to monitor and sit down at your computer. Open up Betfair and William Hill and compare the odds across the 2 sites for the shorter priced selections.

It may well be that there is a little difference just now, but keep refreshing the odds every few seconds, especially when there are only a couple of minutes to go. Very often you will find that the odds on Betfair get very close to the odds on Hills (or any other bookmaker). Even if you don't see this just yet be sure to try it on the next race, it happens all the time. Sometimes a couple of minutes before the event starts, sometimes a couple of hours. Keep exploring this and you will soon see that it happens all the time.

Not only that, we frequently see odds on Betfair that are actually lower than those on offer by bookmakers. This is perfect and actually allows you to make even more money. To put that another way, the lower the odds are on Betfair relative to those on Hills the more money you make. All you need to do is watch and be patient, then when the time is right place your bet at Hills and your lay on Betfair, but be quick as the odds can sometimes move quite quickly.
