Preview Of AYR 16:35 08/03/2008 By KeyHorse
Bottom Weight In Mud Slog!
Three miles in the heavy is not really the kind of situation where you can feel too confident about anything, writes Daniel Weston. Although Ayr is a flat galloping track, the longish run-in is not for the faint-hearted. Millie The Filly has plenty of stamina in her bloodlines and shrugged off similar conditions over two furlongs shorter on this track back in November. After a couple of lacklustre runs she came back to form here over a shorter trip a fortnight ago and still looks well handicapped. I expect her young jockey will try to make full use of front-running tactics in a bid for his first riding victory under Rules. Two easy bumper wins on this course by Berwick Law mark him down as a horse of some potential from an astute stable but he has disappointed somewhat so far this term. Difficult what to make of Petroupetrov but it may be wise to forgive his disappointing run at Exeter last time and instead look to his fine second place at Fakenham. Selection: MILLIE THE FILLY
