Not wonderfully positive and it will be a very poor race indeed that he wins. However, this is a very poor race indeed! ALMIZAN – Has not run to anywhere near his best for a worryingly long time, has yet to prove he wants this far, and has been beaten 60l + in his last 2 races. Another likely candidate then. However, there are positives – he has been taking on better opposition and Gary Moore has no peers at this track when it comes to getting a moderate horse to win in its turn. If ALMIZAN fails here then there is little hope and selling hurdles beckon. GEM MILL – This horse has been beaten on average 68 lengths so far and the switch to fences needs to work the oracle today. He is trained by the very capable Alison Thorpe but he has shown absolutely no promise and in any other race apart from this one would be crossed of immediately. WILLOW HALL – Not to be outdone – this chap has been beaten by an average of 80 lengths and shown zero promise over hurdles. Making his debut over fences today and looks a forlorn hope – even in this race. EARCOMESANNIE – Is basically slow but does have a lot of chasing experience. Although a maiden, she does have 3 seconds to her name. Looks likely to play a role here and her riders claim helps offset the 7lb she is out of the handicap. SHIKOKU LASS – Looks less than hopeless on all evidence.
